2023 Annual Report

2023 was our first year of operations. We registered the KWES Foundation as a domestic nonprofit corporation in the State of Texas (USA) in May 2023. Later in the year we received a determination letter for the IRS that confirmed KWES Foundation as a Federal Income Tax-Exempt Organization under Section 501(c)(1) of the US tax code, effective from the day of founding.

During the year, the founding directors endowed the Foundation with $45,000 starting capital and by the end of the year we released our first grant in support of our education program with YOD International in Nairobi’s Mukuru slum area. We provided full school sponsorship for 36 children in primary and secondary schools, covering their 2024 school fees, uniforms, books, and school lunches.

We are determined to keep our overhead as low as possible. Directors and Officers of the KWES Foundation received no compensation for their work in 2023.

The downloadable 2023 Annual Report contains all the facts and highlights for the year.

Our public records can be located under our name using the IRS tax exempt organization search tool [here].

We are also registered in GuideStar’s directory of non-profits [here] where we hold the Platinum Seal of Transparency.

Some of the data fields in these records will auto-populate after the IRS processes our 2023 Tax Form.
